Ama Without Borders

I recently had the opportunity to fundraise and embark on a journey to Mexico, a place I've never visited before!

I partnered with a group called Ama Without Borders, which offers many trips to this specific area throughout the year. 

During this trip, I experienced several things. I had the experience of seeing the beauty of another culture, one that seems very unique, yet nostalgically familiar to me. Knowing my past, the latin culture, and its warmth, generosity, and joyful atmosphere hit me like a wave. I automatically remembered the days I spent serving in Bolivia as a child. Again, I felt purposeful. 

I felt as if my gifts were being used well. My passions were stirred while capturing the smiles and the excitement surrounding me. 

In the midst of the whirlwind, the hustle, the bustle, and the vulnerability of it all, I look fondly at the work that was done, the people that I met, the foods I tasted, and the awkwardness of the inevitable language barrier. It confirmed my desire to witness new places, and to seek that vulnerability that is difficult to find in the comfort of my home city.

 

It awakened the desire to go and see.
